realme Recognised in Fortune China’s 2023 Impact 65 List of Startups in China with Its Dare to Leap Spirit

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, September 14, 2023 – realme, the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand, is honoured to be named to Fortune China’s 2023 Impact 65 List of Startups in China. As one of the most influential business magazines in the world, Fortune China’s Impact List of Startups in China highlights companies with a commitment to do well while doing good.

In the digital era, technology can be a tremendous force multiplier for newer companies. And that fact has enabled startups to make a meaningful difference in tackling society’s most vexing problems. This Impact List is dedicated to recognising young companies that are making people’s lives better and making measurable progress in addressing social and environmental issues as part of their core business strategy.

realme broke record after record when it was established in 2018 with its innovative products, research and development capabilities, and adherence to green development. Two years after it was established, realme was named the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand for four consecutive quarters and was ranked 7th in the global smartphone market. In 2021, realme went from strength to strength and hit a record-breaking US$100 million in sales in just 37 months (Strategy Analytics).

That same year, realme was ranked 6th in the global smartphone market for the first time, becoming the youngest mainstream smartphone brand in the world.

With its “Dare to Leap” spirit and the initial idea of empowering youth to be more daring through leap-forward technology and design, realme achieved breakthroughs and won the confidence of young consumers around the world.

“Since its establishment in 2018, realme has been insisting on developing eco-friendly products with leap-forward designs to have a green impact on young people’s consumption decisions. realme announced its sustainability vision ‘Leap to Greener’ in early 2022 and has been exploring various methods to pursue cleaner and more sustainable operations,” said Wai Kiat Hong, Brand Manager of realme Malaysia.

In the process of product and packaging design, realme takes “3R+1D” as the design concept, and insists on promoting the reduction, recycling, reuse, and degradability of products and packaging. realme’s premium flagship, GT2 Pro, is the world’s first smartphone to use a biopolymer for its entire rear panel, reducing carbon emissions from its manufacturing by 35.5%. Compared with purely petroleum-based materials, this biopolymer creates 2kg fewer carbon emissions for every kilogram made. The percentage of plastic used in the phone’s packaging has also been reduced from 21.7% to a tiny 0.3%, which is almost no plastic left anymore. At the same time, realme also established a complete product recycling system to minimise the damage to the environment.

In August, realme celebrated its 5th anniversary and unveiled the “Leap-Forward Climbing Plan”, announcing a new goal of aiming higher and being the first choice for young users all over the world. It is believed that in the future, realme will adhere to its brand spirit of “Dare to Leap”, insist on its sustainable development, and provide leap-forward products to young people around the world.
